Another trick with insurance is do your searches with as much notice as possible before your renewal date, normally a month is allowed.
The later you leave it, and the more you start digging around, they will know you're getting desperate and you could see the prices start to creep up.
And never leave it down to the last few days to do a search, because the prices will definitely rise by then.
You may find that £30 to £40 of your quote may be an add on for your SP30 penalty, so bear that in mind and just allow it.
