Cheers guys, lots of ideas here...
Today I rechecked for sparks and all seem healthy. I decided to remove the fuel tank and connect an external reservoir with some other petrol in it...its been kicking about for a while but shouldn't have any water in it. I'll also get some fresh stuff from the Petrol station later today.. Just want to take the fuel out of the equation...
I drained the bowls attached the new fuel refilled and then drained them all again apart from no.2 as the drain screw is dead on that one (not my doing
)
I tried to start it a few times and eventually with choke on and throttle half open it fired and ran very briefly, but, wouldn't do it again. This is what was happening just before she died completely and I parked her up. She would run sometimes but you had ot give it a handful of throttle to get her to run and then she'd die after a few seconds or you held the throttle and she'd backfire etc and eventually die. She was running fine when I set off that day and then half way on the journey bogged down and got worse and worse and you had to give her handfuls of throttle to get her to move at all..and then every now and then there would be a surge. it really felt more like something electrical breaking down...
I'm going to pick up some more petrol tonight to rule that out completely.
I tested the TPS and that comes back as 5k, so, should be fine...
The stator was swapped for a brand new one and I swapped the CDI for a second hand one and its the same....I'm thinking that if the sparks good and enough fuel is getting through to get it to run even briefly then it could only be down to when it's sparking....or am I missing something?
