Quote:Because it's not built for the road as such only 500 were made. It was a homologation bike to allow it to be used in WSBK and endurance races at the time, all bikes had to be based on a road bike with a minimum of 200 units I think and it was a 750. Which at the time was the limit for 4 cylinder bikes, twins could be 1000 and that was what saved and relaunched Ducati. The R7 in road trim was 100 odd bhp, Yam produced two race kits, depending on the depth of your pockets 1st was £700 ish 130 odd bhp, 2nd £10000 ish 160 odd bhp if my memory serves me.:thumbup
A very trick and rare bike, bloody
Absolutely. Yeah it’s rare as foc. But seriously, forget for a second how rare it is. They just got the detailing spot on, the upgraded components, combined with the finish and R7 paint job, along with the headlamps, race tank etc – and all beautifully understated.
For me, seriously, it’s maybe the best looking modern sportsbike. 20 years on it looks as good as it did the day it was born.
