Wanted: Gen 1 Fazer 1000 undertray
#5
The area around where the numberplate/indicators attach needs strengthening. After making a cardboard template, I cut out the required shape from a scrap of sheet metal. The numberplate fixing point on the Ermax is like a triangular shaped hole. My metal insert is bent through 90° to fit parallel with the back edge of the Ermax, inside this triangular area. This has 2xM6 nuts welded to the inside of the metal. So now the number plate bracket bolts through the abs of the undertray and into the M6 nuts. There's some internal bracing to support both the Ermax and the metal insert. This triangular moulding broke off my first attempt, as can be seen in the two pics. It's difficult to make sense of all this really unless you have the parts in front of you :lol . The last pic just shows where you have to cut the original tray. The Yamaha tray is supported on 4 snap type fixings. I substituted them for black numberplate nuts and bolts.
