I’ve found it! 8) It’s sort of low down under the tank. Under the side cover below your knee I guess. It’s a bit tight in there. So, I referred to the owner’s manual, it tells me I should charge it using a motorad CANbus charger via the charging socket. It doesn’t tell me where the charging socket is. Grrr. But I get the impression the charging socket is actually the accessories power socket. Anyway, I have asked a question on the R1200R forum just to be sure to be sure. I think I need an optimate4 which with luck will come with the CANbus socket (I hope). I’m pretty sure it’s lead acid – lithum would have been nice.
Can take a photo in due course if you wanna see the location.
Dash shows 11.7v - not great but hopefully in a few days’ time it will be on charge. It’s a fitted with a tracker – so maybe that slowly drains the battery.
R&G radiator guard now fitted. I’ve had the horrible large plastic self-tapping type screws out and back into the fan frame more times than I would care for through faffing about with radiator grills. But it’s sorted now.
