Yeah it was murder.  The only way to do it was to dig it by hand.  The handiest tool turned out to be the micro shovel.  But yeah, I think I bought two tonnes of peas, chucked them in once the drain was in and the tanking on, then for some mad reason I raddled about 4 tonnes of earth.  Was glad once it was all done.  The garage is reasonably dry now.  It’s not 100% perfect as there is no damp core in the concrete base – but hey it’s pretty decent overall.

I wish it was still this tidy!

It’s a good bit of kit, but like anything there are pros and cons.  I hate getting it on and back off the rig – it’s a bit of a balancing act – though dead easy if you have somebody to hold the bike.  You can’t service the Gen1 EXUP whilst it’s on the stand.  But other than it’s pretty good, and it’s great not to be on my knees.  I haven’t had the swing arm out yet on the stand, though maybe I’ll try that this winter – there’s a separate fitting kit that lifts the bike utilising the foot peg mounts to get the swing arm out (as the standard fitting kit lifts on the swing arm pivot.
