Do the same with the throttle cables. Ensure that you have more slack than usual and that the throttle plates snap shut when you close the throttle.
You should be able to see the end of the idle adjuster where it contacts the throttle spindle. Again, make sure that it is allowing the throttle to close fully.
Eliminate possible mechanical hang-ups first before looking deeper into the carbs.
The fault isn't EXUP related.
