It's up to you if you are willing to spend big money on a full service on a bike that is of an age....I can tell you that in all my time on these forums I can't recollect anyone's valves needing adjustment at 24K or even 50K so the chances are you will be OK if the bike looks like it has been well looked after and not neglected. I think £2400 is quite steep unless you are getting a bike with all of the essentials done - replacement rear shock, replacement brake hoses, front forks re-sprung, Ivanised carbs, decent aftermarket end can etc.
Checkout the FAQ if you haven't already as there are some giveaways as to how the bike has been looked after (EXUP / Fork damping adjusters / exhaust headers).
