Save the small o ring that goes between the two halves of the caliper The new seal kit won't have that. Sanding the piston could give you problems in the future. If you sand away the protective coating it might cause the piston to rust more

From the picture of the dirty piston most of the dirty haze cleaned up with a rag, i only lighty sanded it under the tap, yep kept that o ring.although i may source another one, it's all to do with what type of rubber it is, i found this out when my gasgas 250 enduro bike must have "nitrile"  o rings for the exhaust.There's rubber and rubber
