Took off the exhaust header bolts and put copperslip on the threads, torqued them up to 75% of the recommended value and will check them again in a couple of weeks.

Also finally managed to get the connector from the loom to the instruments apart with a liberal amount of WD40 contact cleaner. One contact was seriously clagged, another was a bit iffy. Cleaned them all, but when I went out for a ride after, the LCD display still flickered
