Fazersharp you've hit the nail on the there our fishermen for the most part follow the rules to the letter, not all other trawlers are so diligent in there applying or the rules. Dumping tons of fish because they have caught their quota of cod etc it's dead by the time it gets on the deck how does that protect the fish stock, all it achieves is to protect the high prices the large trawler fleet owners get for the fish they land, As for Iceland bet Scotland, Shetlands and other countries with the north sea on their shores would like a 200mile exclusion zone for foreign trawlers.
