You can give the engine a good flush using a garden hose. Just take two pipes off and stick the hose in and give it a flush until the water runs clear, then put the hose in the other end to reverse the direction of flow and flush it out the other way. You disconnect the radiator and do it separately. I also took my radiator off and blocked the inlet and outlet and then stuck it in a basin of water and let it soak for an hour to rise dirt out of the fins
