i have read an aluminium safe descaler has been used to good effect, dishwasher and washing machine descaler is the same stuff
but i really mean it has to be ALUMINIUM SAFE - if you know anyone that works in the kitchen / food prep industry they might be able to get there hands on it
shame the pipes have gone that way
