Our 2003 600 Foxeye is silver too 
I don't think the black will work on the fairing lowers - I'd go for matching silver and maybe get some small decals designed/made to match with those on the top fairing and tailpiece (I work with vehicle graphics guys)
But, we have a black hugger on our 2001 Fazer 1000 (a red one with the TCP lowers) and I think it looks great - bet it will too on the 600.
If there was a fitting kit that came with it, I'd have one as well - maybe we could get a little bit off a painting cost for 2
