There were so many wonderful gas guzzlers tearing down the tarmac leaving the unmistakeable aromatic smell of partially burnt 2-stroke oil in their wake.
No modern brakes,tyres, frames, suspension, electronic controls, but engines that got the heart pounding as the adrenaline kicked in.
What was the cost of petrol you ask? I seem to remember 6 shillings a gallon(or 30p for you youngsters who probably werent even born then!).

Ahh! pull into Grayland Motors Camelsdale near Haslemere Surrey, 3 gallons of 3 star in the old BSA 650 Rocket Goldstar ,20 Anchor (Cheap Fags) box of matches and about 1/9d change from two 10 bob notes lol (£1) :rollin
