the diversions are not usually too bad if you have a sat nav and ignore the diversion route. That said the diversion route can often be a shorter route than the original route but on slower roads.
They don't mess about and they get the job done in a fraction of the time. A couple of years ago I went down to my place near Mayenne and they had about 5-10 miles of the A28 dug up with a contraflow in place. 5 days later on the return trip, no sign of the road works and lovely fresh tarmac. Makes the way we do it seem archaic.
