Glad you got it sorted, bizarrely enough pretty much my first post on here was about the exact same issue. When I first got my GEN1 I asked the dealer to fit an Optimate lead and they left the instruction tag on it which was right near the intake snorkle, Mike (Falcon 269) identified the issue for me straight away.

Just for info, the EXUP valve starts to open around 2000rpm and is fully open around 6000rpm which is why your problem was unlikely to be EXUP related.
