I have seen the Marksman kit http://shop.marksman-ind.com/yamaha-fz1-...3350-p.asp, from what i read the tapered bearings are better was will last longer, if i buy the marksman kit will i need anything else for the job? Better to replace any wee cheap parts while in there is they are perishable.
Seen this topic http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,7518.0.html and it has me a bit worried on that the parts will all fit fine? There is a rubber washer mentioned, any idea on part number?
I've used this kit on two bikes, everything you need is in the kit. I remember reading that thread and being a bit baffled as to how he'd got it wrong. As for the rubber washer, just re-use the old one. It's only there as a dust seal, if I remember rightly. It's a fiddly job and getting the bottom race off the steering stem is pure butchery. Damn thing will just not move until you're really belting it with the hammer and chisel. The one on my Kawasaki needed only light tap and it pinged off, but Fazers.. jeezuz.
Satisfying when you're done though.
