What a cracking day that was - just the tonic I needed to lift the winter blues!
Hacked it down to the Filling Station cafe in Keswick for a bacon butty and cuppa. Usual welcoming, pretty smiling face serving at the counter
The day was properly spring-like; mild, a gentle breeze, sunny. Roads were mostly dry (took a little care in shaded areas, where it was still a bit cool and damp), and was able to seriously wind the taps on :evil From Keswick, took the A591 down to Ambleside. Caught the beautiful stretch of grippy, winding tarmac down alongside Thirlmere almost empty; just a couple of bikes, riders obviously still in winter mode, and a couple of cars to zap past, the Striple screaming happily. Took a couple of snaps just outside of Keswick, but was having too much fun to stop for more:

Stopped at Ambleside to wander round the outdoor gear shops, looking more for biking solutions than for the hills. Saw some interesting possible solutions to the problem of bulky bike gear - might have to go and try some things on, but didn't bother today. Got chatting to a nice young lady in one of the shops, and we both bemoaned the lack of imagination in colours of fleeces &c. :rolleyes Then back the same way, and this time caught the 591 by Thirlmere completely empty - yeehah! What a hoot! :evil Couple more shots from nearly the same place on the way back to the cafe.

Then ragged it past all the traffic on the 595 back to Carlisle, taking every fleeting chance to get past cars, lorries and tractors; seemed like I got home in about 2 minutes :lol
