Is a day trip to the TT possible?
#11
If you have never done the IOM TT you really should, I have been fortunate enough to have been able to go three times now, Practice week and the TT. For me it would be the Practice week every time, not QUITE so crowded, the practice/racing is just as fast as riders are doing their very best to get qualified. Plus the Island is a beautiful place to see. Things are a bit pricey as it's one of the few income means for the Island. But the locals are extra friendly. Another good viewing point is Parliament Square and another bonus Is you can sit outside the pub in the Square quaffing pints of delicious ale and necking back yummy food.
Plus it is a chance to get some decent IOM/TT memorabilia. I bought a great TT paddock jacket whilst there in 2010. There are lots of enamelled badges and rider clothing for sale.
I have not been now for 3 years and writing this has motorvated me into doing something about that. It's a great experience and the first time you see the bikes as they howl past the church at the top of Bray Hill and over the cross roads your heart will almost burst with disbelief and shock that a bike can be ridden at those speeds on effectively a B road with stone walls lining the way traffic light and lamp posts and every other obstacle you can image and all at speeds that I can only dream of. If your top speed is less than 190mph forget it your finishing last. I am so pleased that Guy is coming back to the Island with Honda, there is a colourful character and a person more deserving of a TT win you will not find.
