Personally I would look out for one with a fully working Exup - says a lot about the bike.

Although I had one without an EXUP valve and didn't even know until at the end of ownership (I'd owned 3 others before that one), it was a bit glitchy at low rpm. Ivanising seemed to go a long way to resolving this, but if I'm honest, there was still just a hint of the problem there, but not enough that you'd really notice most of the time. When that one got replaced, it was however apparent that there had been some loss of pull low down. Again, not that marked, but I would now definitely want a working EXUP valve rather than not.
I would bear in mind there are always a lot of these bikes around for sale, and personally would probably wait for a relatively low mileage one with everything intact, and stretch my budget as much as possible to get a decent example. Bomb proof engines perhaps, but it's always nice to have at least some peace of mind provided by a service history.
