If you're considering the chance of water in the fuel, put 300ml of pure alcohol in a full fuel tank, and it will bind with any moisture and burn it off in running.
Make sure you buy the 99% version, as they also do a 70% alcohol/30% water version for cleaning stuff with, which obviously defeats the object.
I've been using it for years andit won't affect running in any way, other than improve what's in your tank.

Personally, my money's still on the battery being iffy, but it doesn't hurt doing this as well anyway, i normally buy 5 litres at a time as it won't go off because it's alcohol..
