Noob question about power delivery.

If it was the clutch slipping then the engine would also rev higher but you would technically be slowing down.
Have a look at a Haynes manual and learn how to adjust the clutch cable at both ends, it may just need that, if there is actually a problem.
If after adjusting it still feels like it's possibly slipping, then it could be a worn cable so it will need replacing, which i would totally recommend buying a Yamaha OEM one, don't buy any old cheap shit.
If that still doesn't help, then you would be looking at a change of clutch plates.


If you're saying it's gaining power though, then it all sounds fairly normal to be honest.
You would still benefit in getting a Haynes manual and learning how to adjust the clutch cable though.
There is an online manual on here you can browse beforehand, but that's not much good when you've got greasy hands and are outside working on the bike, a book wins every time.

thanks mate, that sounds most plausible. I dont really think its the clutch as it does seem to surge.
