Noob question about power delivery.
#4
HI Jamie,
My Fazer FZS 600 has a real kick in power from 7.5K onwards, but to be honest it pulls well from 2K on-wards, the bike is quick all the way through the rev range but when it hits around that 7.5 mark hang on to the throttle it and it will take off like a rabbit on steroids.
If I really want to tramp on I will hang on to 4th 5th gear until I hit the 11 to 12K mark flick into top and the bike will drop down a couple of K and will climb quickly up to Oh shit! time to slow down.
My baby is good for----- (According to the Speedo it showed 146mph) but my Sat Nav disagreed and said 'don't tell lies' my Tom Tom gave it 138mph and to be honest I think that is about all she has, but the bike pulls all the way to Max.
She now has 38 thousand on the clock, I bought it 3 years ago with 27 thousand mile on board, the previous owner was meticulous with the maintenance and I have been the same with it and done servicing on or before the recommended mileage points, I use full synth oil 'Shell Advance 4T' well its good to treat the lady in your life well.

To find out if the clutch is slipping you could get the bike up to say 30mph in 2nd gently pull the front brake on with a couple of fingers and open the throttle you will hear and feel if the clutch slips, if revs rise but bike does not struggle against the brake or increase in speed the clutch could be the culprit, if not then your good to go.
If you do try the above make sure your not on a wet or slippery road and it gravel/grit free.
