Oldgit - My Mrs had an ICD fitted a couple of years ago and the driving "ban" was only a few weeks (maybe two months) to allow everything to heal and prevent you pulling the leads out.
DVLA place no restrictions on the licence with the ICD but did when they thought she had epiliepsy. Her lincence isn't restricted at all now.
