It's not a straightforward bolt-on job, no. But it isn't the hardest thing to accomplish, either. 
This guide gives you enough to get started on deciding which R1 forks to fit and whether to go about it using the original Fazer 1000 steering stem or to source a custom-made stem. Same range of options exist for the yokes. Original parts (modded, if required) or custom yokes, which are available.
How you decide to do it depends a lot on how much budget you have to spend on the project.
