Yep side stand switch is a closed contact, but just to rule out damaged wire I would connect at junction which from memory is behind side panel.
Clutch switch can be open or closed for interlock I don't know which on the bike? but if you have a meter check with clutch in and out at switch.

First Id go with side stand switch.
You can ride bike with switch shorted but you could leave side stand down and still ride. Interlock is to prevent this so you don't crash.
