No, not at all, that's why i suggested making sure the cable is adjusted properly just for starters.
You'll need a deep set 12mm ring spanner to adjust the lower end of the cable properly, but loosen the nut with a good socket first, preferably with 6 sides rather than 12, as i found out the nut can round off very easily.
