I had an argument with a salesman at one of the local steelers that many of the crash bungs etc the sell these days look designed to do more harm than good. I think the problem is they don't spread the load over several mount points like the engine bars do, they look better but because of their design you could end up with a twisted frame instead of a damaged engine casing
