Mike, I have just tried to set the rev counter using the method you suggest but the result is the same, the rev counter jumps between 0k and 3k and back to 0k. Does this sound like a defective TPS? I have also noted the top section of the TPS housing is broken

Could this be my problem? I noted the 3k rev counter warning when I reconnected everything after checking the valves last weekend.
