I found that article with google while trying to remember how I fitted mine. Mine were fitted to a **spits** bandit direct to the battery, so if left on drained the battery. But this article gives the option of using a supply switched by the ignition.
I'm reluctant to fit heated grips to my fazer as the previous owner fitted spot lights to my bike and they seemed to fry the rectifier/regulator. I disconnected them and have had no further problems but not try to avoid too much draw on the battery. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing?!
