nah... you've got me on that one.....no idea at all but from your overall demeanour I'll read it as being some sort of wanker
I've seen enough of the military to know that you do what you are told....jump means jump and due to her dad's illness it would not have been beyond the stretch of anyone's imagination if either the jocs conspired or the "RSM" informed them of what was to happen to allow a great send off for her dad
on a slight tangent but all the same....horse racing is bent as a ten bob note and I have direct experience of that (a famous footballer's horse running on X day.....told us not to back it as it would not win but get everything on it on Y day as its coming in....and so it continued)

years ago I took my dog to a dog training class where the ex Police dog handler said he'd had a stroppy woman in who wouldn't listen to a word of his instruction, she said she trained horses and knew better than him. I'll never forget his words to me that the horsey brigade think they're a cut above everyone. Sounds just like you pal especially your terminology of "be a good chap...........
