The other is the Stator failures but at least Honda did the decent thing in the end and gave a 7 year warranty. The CBF 1000 is a nice touring / commuting bike but is a bit staid in looks and performance. IMHO.You're right on both counts Lew - both issues are well documented which I found after buying the bike.
The Mk 2 was over priced, all be it a decent bit of kit but tried one and nearly fell asleep.
I bought it as a commuter for London and back (100mile/day) and it does that very well with good handling, performance, braking etc.....and yup it looks bland. Could've got a late FZ1 with ABS but lot more money and don't really need more than 100bhp. The MRA touring has improved the buffeting on my bike by about 30% so will stick with that - not as good as my Fazer or Tiger with standard screens but heh, can't get ABS on them which after a shunt in London I set my heart on getting.
The stator....... I'm looking to get a re wound one with 30-40% increase in capacity along with a Mosfet regulator/rectifier (£300 ish) so will sort that before it fails.
All in for the money I've got a good responsive, comfortable, reliable commuter which can tour- job done. Will save for the MV Augusta Brutale 800 I dream of orrrr tweak the Fazer for the fun side :thumbup
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.
