Insurance company's repair if the total price of the repair is less than 60-70% of the value of the vehicle. What u estimate as its value may differ from the book value of the car for that year.
The rear of modern cars are designed to be much tougher than the front to take a hit from another vehicle. If you have a spare wheel well in the back get it out and check the bonded joins and surrounding floor for dents/warping.
I doubt chassis damage from that angle but rear subframe/crossmember may be bent. Get ur bonce under the back with a torch and have a looksee.
Plastic bumpers and arch liners are very cheap and repairers will be able to get much better prices for spares than u and I and obviously if the price of the repair exceeds the price of a new part it will be replaced.
Rear quarter panels are designed by manufacturers to maximise aftermarket profit as there are hardly any joins on most of them so that would entail removing doors/ possibly centre pillars to get the whole panel off. Remember 20 year ago when car side panels had joins in them to make it easier and cheaper to repair? Car companies low profit margins put that to bed. If it's out of align and not to badly damaged it could be "magic pulled" and repaired.
Tailgates are quite easy to repair like doors as they can be removed and stripped quite easily. Sometimes they move out of alignment and that can fool the eye into thinking the roof is out due to gap movement but I doubt it would have moved.
I would say 4-5 grand repair and dependant on mileage ....say under 60k then the car will be repaired.
WAS THAT A USEFUL POST RED U OLD DOG ?
