No, the R definitely has radial callipers, and they're supposed to be better than the brakes on the standard model. Pretty sure the suspension on the R is meant to be better too. Not too concerned about not having a fuel gauge, as for me, the bike will be about fun Sunday blasts, not doing big distances. I can soon get the idea of what it's range is, and then I'd just reset the trip every time I fill up, which is what I do on the Fazer anyway. Besides which, I don't mind stopping for fuel regularly, like to have plenty of breaks to stretch the legs on a ride. I'll still have the mighty gen 1 when I want to do a big trip, camping, touring etc.
