Just for your information the 600 makes a good tourer even 2 up.
My wife and I have toured all round Ireland, much of England France and Spain on my 600 without any issues.
The only additions were a Hagon rear shock adjusted to suit the extra weight, a set of progressive fork springs and a Nonfango Rack and panniers.
We even did 800 miles in 31 hours on it once when we missed a ferry. :'(
Have toured on an FJR1300 and my own Fazer1000 also, no major advantage. You may have more power, but also more weight.
