Communism is something to strive for IMO. I've lived in a socialist country - socialsim being a step towards communism. Here's what we had:
Free education, free health care, secure jobs, obligatory military service for all men, large amount of personal freedom, a decent standard of living. That was before the "civil" war that tore all the country to the ground in all matters.
Russia called themselves communist, but it was a dictatorship of worst kind, nothing compared to what communism is about. The basic idea of communism is that all do what they can do best and all get what they need for a living. Can you have a Rolls Royce? No. Can people starve without a roof? No.
Now the country I live in is democracy. I get to choose between 2 corrupt politicians every year. They both work for the same man - one with capital, striving to protect it and enlarge it. In rich countries, like Germany, Switzerland, or UK, the small amount of money left to working class is still enough to get by, but in 90% of the planet - it is very little.
Another problem is that capitalism doesn't worry about destroying the planet - in order to work it needs constant "growth". Which will end bad for all eventually. When you make a machine that changes the work of 100 men, instead of giving those men shorter working hours, or let them plant trees, whatever, capitalism gets them fired, hungry, looking for another job. It makes no sense in the long run IMO.
Most things done in a hurry need to be done again - patiently.
