Val, you're making an assumption he's got fully comp insurance, if he's tpft then his insurance won't do anything for him.
Phone his insurance company, constantly!
Request a hire bike- immediately- this costs them money, they will pay out the value of your bike pretty quickly to minimise hire/storage charges, they'll send you a letter stating this is on the caveat that if it's eventually decided you're at fault you'll have to repay this money (obviously you can ignore that as it's not your fault)
It'll possibly take a little longer to get paid out for helmet and leathers, to which you'll have to pressure them.
If you claim any injuries that can take anything up to a couple of years to get paid
