It usually stems from the old problem of people clicking next, next, next when installing free programs :wall or using downloaders like softonic, there are a few others, but I have found softonic to be the worst of all. It installs all sorts of junk. :rolleyes
Oracle got a slating for installing mywebsearch with its Jave installation :eek . It was preticked during the installation of Java and many missed it.
If you have it on PC/Laptop with mywebsearch get rid of it, this little beauty slows down you system and does a tries to control your web searching. Uninstalling it by normal means is not always successful or possible, which begs the question if it was legit why is it so difficult to remove it all.
For your information Malwarebytes is another good adware/malware remover
I love malware, because I make plenty money removing it :lol
Yeah, cheers for that Pat, I'm kinda self taught where computers are concerned so I learn daily but I am persistent when there's an issue, and I want to kind of solve things by researching and persevering. I'm not doing too bad so far.
That Adwcleaner has certainly been a saviour twice for me now though.
I already have the free version of Malwarebytes as well which I run once or twice a week which is also a very useful tool for finding nasty stuff.
What I am learning though is that there are some sad bastards out there intent on ruining your day by infecting your computer just for their own pleasure, they really need to get out more. :\
Great info about Softonic though, I've used them quite a few times which could explain a lot, as I didn't know any different and thought they were quite reliable. :thumbup
