I reckon a big capacity supermoto is stillyour best bet...and mine....i love the twin on the trx...the sound and the burbling feeling...it has character...it just lacks outright oomph......you still need to down gears for overtakes...it only has 5...5th is barely used.......mostly overtakes in 3rd/4th and then 4th for hooning it on the corners......you can blat quickly through the gears off of roundabouts from 2nd onwards for decent progress.
It aint standard and as such it undoubtedly handles allot better than standard...actually is very sure footed....has t gotten out of shape yet on a corner.....id be lying if i said i cornered faster on it than on my fz1......but there isnt allot in it....and i feel safer......i imagine it is a bit like a Ducati Monster.
I can see now how a triple would be best....a street triple.......or a bigger twin....just not too much to choose from.....i like yamaha.........ythe big aprillia dorsoduro i can see being good but i doubt their reliability, likewise the KTM's.....shame really.
