Like it or not, the Tracer is competitively priced and winning lots of plaudits from the bike press and those who buy it. It ticks boxes that keep a lot of would-be Fazer owners content.
Every few years we get a magazine photoshop job of an R1 look-alike with regular bars on it. Is there a big enough market for this kind of bike, though? How many 1000Fs are Suzuki shifting? With BMW having a variant of their I-4 based bike to suit every taste, does it make financial sense for Yamaha to develop and produce what might be a nice but niche 'upright R1 lite'?
