With Windows 8 there is a feature that is not installed by default called Hyper-V. This is a virtual machine manager. Run this and you can install as many "PC's within your PC" as you have disk space for.
VMware do a product called VMPlayer which is free and works on earlier Windows versions to do the same thing.
With either of these, you can have the OS you don't particularly like but need just running on another virtual PC and keep the one you want for other things. No new laptop needed (just disk space and RAM)
