A daylight MOT is alright as long as visibility remains 100% but when conditions worsen to the point that lights are required you are obliged to use lights-eg dusk or fog patches.
There is also the matter of insurance cover that requires a valid MOT or you may find out that youre not covered if you try to make a claim using your existing lights-the MOT test is there to protect us from (sometimes) ourselves.
We have enough problems with myopic cage drivers without giving them the added excuse of saying-"i thought it as a push bike approaching at 3mph so decided it was safe to pull out!" :eek
