This bike is astounding!!
I have been used to my 650 Versys and cruisers over the last few years so I am used to stiring the pot to get some performance, what that equates to on the Fazer is seriously silly speeds when you think you are bimbling along. This is no bad thing but I will have to recalibrate my throttle response. That being said I did play with a Fireblade for a while and I was not embarrassed, which is a very nice change.
But what makes it even better and proves what an all rounder it is, is riding through small villages at 30 and it is as smooth as you like.
I am going to have to play with the suspension a bit because it is not to my taste, I like it hard on the front and a bit softer on the rear to suit my riding and it is the wrong way round at the moment.
The seat is comfortable, I did an hour ride and I had no numbness, I reckon I could do a couple of hours more before I needed to have a walk around.
All in all I am properly happy with the bike.
nice to hear such praise Stewie....I always hum an ha about my gen 2 but I've got it at an acceptable level now and for me it is good on shorter journeys like 50-100 mile blasts. im running a Nitron track rear shock and springs which are far too stiff on the front....I am in hefty pain doing a couple hundred miles on mine but that is a rarity getting the chance these days anyway so I can put up with that....mine is jacked up at the back and dropped at the front end.
something that I do find with my bike now is that if im not entirely in the mood for hooning around then it becomes a bit shit....I know you seem happy and our bikes are different but on mine it absolute balls at slow speeds as it doesn't compress the suspension enough so is hard going and so touring and sight seeing are out the window now...I have to be gunning it...I leave my street and do a couple of little knobhead weaves just to get me in the frame of mind and get an idea of the weight....then im offsky doooooooooooooooo.......then I come on here and moan :lol
but yeh what my bike does do well now is going flat out and it actually turn s me into a bit of a liability to myself......I know the R1 riders will say pah FZ1, watered down R1...they are probably right...I don't care much for R1's either though.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
