New Bike - Petrol Leak - Carb Cleaning

I gave up trying to access the carbs as it seemed too complicated (the haynes manual that is!). But after putting new sparks in and giving the carbs a bit of a hammering I started the engine and the leakage stopped! So i went for a bit of a ride and 45 minutes later the leakage started again. Came back home washed the bike, then notice that petrol was gushing out from the petrol tap underneath the petrol tank... so I rushed and grabbed my tools took the petrol tank off and swithed the tap off... but its still leaking from even when off! So after all that it might not be the carbs but the actual tap not flowing through correctly!


Any ideas????
