Rear Hugger spacers...

Either ride with a hugger or a chain guard, never without either one of them.
The main reason is safety as any loose clothing could get caught in the chain!
Secondly it's for looks, whatever suits you, whether that be a chain guard or hugger.
Thirdly is purely how much crap you don't want to clean off the rest of your bike Sad
You've seen the shit that gathers in there, imagine all that over your wheels and the under the seat area Sad
The shock already has a cover there to protect it, but if the grease etc went on your tyres, no no no
