What exactly is the problem? Can you engage a gear but the bike doesn't pull forward, or can you not engage any gears at all?
If it is the former then I'd say the clutch needs adjusting - most likely on the left hand side cover (remove the rubber grommet to get at the adjustment nut / screw combo)
If you can't actually select any gears then it could be either the springs that are too strong and not allowing the clutch to disengage, or again adjustment.
It's worth while checking to make sure that the pressure plate is seated correctly. I made that mistake as I thought it was fine, but it was out by about 2mm - removed it, spun it round and re-fitted until it sat flush. Don't be tempted to tighten the spring bolts beyond the recommended torque - they will snap and you will need a new clutch cage... again, voice of experience
