What with a dead low fuel warning lamp that I've not got round to replacing and being in a bit of a rush, I forgot to check there was sufficient fuel for my journey this morning and the inevitable happened. While making "good progress" down the A331 the bike coughed, I realised my mistake and slowed to a more fuel efficient 45mph for a couple more miles until the bike spluttered to a halt on the off-ramp to Aldershot.
Turn ignition off and on again and shake the bike left and right and back and forth to try and slop some fuel over the intake before the pump gets bored and switches itself off. Repeat three times.
Restart and the bike gets me another half mile leaving just a 200m push to a petrol station. Which was more luck than I deserved. :o
Thanks to the lowered filter on the fuel tap and the extra hole in the filler neck to allow filling to a higher level than Yamaha originally intended, I can report a full-to-empty tank range of 269 miles and a fuel-up of some 20.5 litres… not bad for an 18 litre tank. :lol
