question on cans and KN filters?

I have a stubby can such I'm booked in to get balanced and probly a jet kit, I also have a KN filter that I haven't fitted, I'm tempted to chuck it on and see how the bike feels (stubby can with baffle ) or would this just lean the engine out even more and better to wait for the setup ? Any thoughts ? I'm guna get it balanced with the baffle out m, but haven't run it much without the baffle as it runs worse than having it in place.
