I took my bike across but mates went on foot leaving their car on mainland, I had a great time as I could go round the course as well as visit all the other places on the island. I was also fortunate that a friend of a friend stays there and had a spare room, right on the course :-) so one day I just spent it sitting in the garden with a few glasses of cold beer as the bikes went whizzing by, great memories. You'll love it.
There's plenty of toilets, ie pubs and the likes, everyone is so nice and friendly, would highly recommend going at least once in your biking life :-)
